I loved the sketch Valerie Salmon created for week 3 of the class:
Temple had cowboy day at school last month and I just had to get pictures of her before she left for school. They were perfect for this LO!

Club Got Sketch Submission
I created another LO based on the Club Got Sketch sketch--it was a double pager which I am not a fan of but I did it!
We went to Virginia at Chrismas 2010 to celebrate the holiday with my brother-in-law's family, and the night before we started home it snowed and I was able to take these great pictures on the road. Yes I actually got these pictures in the moving SUV with my zoom lens that my DH got me for Christmas! As you can see the part of VA where we were is mostly agricultural--so we passed lots of farms where I fell in love with the barns and silos-so cool. As much as I don't like to do double-pagers, I was happy that I got to scrap so many of the very many pictures I took in Virginia.
Thanks for looking and Happy Scrapping!

A Couple of LOs!
I registered for Club Got Sketch this week. It's a Valerie Salmon sketch site based on her Got Sketch series of classes. I chose, of course to do this LO of Temple and I used the colors based on Temple's outfit. Temple is a cool kid and she's very funny, so it's always a fun time aroumd this child of mine!

Kayla
I can't believe I forgot to post this LO I did last week of my darling niece, Kayla! She is a member of her county's marching band and I did this LO of her in action!
Kayla is a very interesting young lady who I know will go very far! Her talents and intelligence, and throw in a huge measure of confidence, are beyond measure!

Lady Liberty
I joined the folks over at From Screen to Scrap again this month and their movie poster inspiration is Vertigo. I love James Stewart movies--he is truly one of the great actors of the 20th century!
Added criteria for an extra 6 Bonus Points
1) Orange background = 1pt
2) A black silohouette figure (person) on your layout = 2pts
3) A spirograph shape or swirl on your layout = 3pts
I had to hunt down a sprialgraph image online which was not easy but I managed to find a couple which I punched out and used as flowers on my LO!
I had these great pictures of the Statue of Liberty I took when we went home last October which came out in silhouette because of the time of day and angle of the sun when I took them. I would not have ordinarily scrapped them, but I think the picture looks great now! I also used a Page Maps sketch that I altered a little to accommodate my picture.
Don't forget to join in on the fun at From Screen to Scrap!

This is such a fun challenge--I'd love to see what you come up with!
So I'd love for you to visit ARTastic and join in on the fun!

A couple of LOs and a card to share!
I've been participating in the Glee Club challenge over at Soul Scrappers. So far the challenges have been to create a LO based on Classic Rock for Week 1 challenge where we had to use a Beatles' title and have a feel of the 60s in your LO. This week is alternative rock and you had to build your LO around a Train title with a funky or grunge feeling to it. There are also mini challenges and this is where my card comes in. Please visit Soul Scrappers and join in on the fun the DT has cooked up for you!
The above is based on the Beatles song, Ain't she Sweet. In keeping with the feel of the 60s, I created the patchwork which is reminiscent of the patchwork skirts worn by women at that time. Temple was trying on these hats at her favorite store, Justice, which looked pretty retro to me and I thought would work well for this challenge.
The above is the mini challenge based on the above Beatles challenge where you had to make a card and incorporate some part of the title you used in the main challenge, and it was an easy choice to use Sweetness as it's a nickname that I already called Temple.
The above is based on this week's challenge which is Alternative Rock and you had to choose a song by the Rock Band, Train which happens to be one of my favorite bands. I chose their song, Ordinary and there's a line in the song that says, "I'm anything but Ordinary," and it was the perfect title for me to use for this LO of Temple! She recently earned her 1st qtr Academic Excellence award at school, which she has earned every qtr for the last 2 yrs (she's in 2nd grade)! The big surprise though was she also earned the Principle's Award for best all around student! Needless to say, she was totally thrilled and we were bursting with pride which is what I expressed in my journaling above. So I named this LO, You're anything but Ordinary which this proud mommy feels for this child!
So, please visit Soul Scrappers and join in on the fun!
Happy Scrapping!

ARTastic February Challenge
This month's inspiration piece is Venus at her Toilet by Pieter Paul Rubens and the Diva Demands are:
1. Layout must be about YOU! = 1pt
2. Add wings somewhere on your layout = 2pts
3. Use a mirror image or use the same picture of YOU multiple times = 3pts

I really love the lighting and the rich colors Rubens used in this painting. However, I totally departed from these colors!!!
DH, Charles, took this picture of me during our annual Anniversary Getaway Weekend last April - #8. It was such a gorgeous Spring weekend. And I can't believe that weekend #9 will be here so soon. This was the Saturday of our weekend in St. Augustine, FL which is the oldest city in the United States and is about an hour away from our home. It is full of historic architectural structures and a healthy dose of charm! Here are some pictures from that weekend.
So please join us at ARTastic! I'd love to see your creation!!
Happy Scrapping!
