I made this card for my sister, Deb! I was supposed to have taken it with us when we had dinner at her house for Thanksgiving, but I did a typical Robin and forgot to take it. So Deb, this is for you and I'll do my best to remember for the next time we see each other!!!
Love, your big Sis!

Happy Thanksgiving!
I always look forward to Thanksgiving!!! This is the day that I wear sweat pants and get ready to eat everything that is filled with butter and sugar. The sheer amount of carbs consumed on this day is fantastical!!! And the best part, I feel absolutely no guilt!!! Because this is the one day that I know for sure that I will spend time with my family. This is the day that all family differences, squabbles and fueds are laid down (temporarilly but most times for good), and we reflect on the blessings that've been bestowed upon us.
I rejoice daily in the life I've been given, and it's been a long road to get where I am today. My faith stayed strong throughout all of the highs and lows along my life path and I can say today that my life is wonderful. When I want to think that it sucks, I just reflect and I get myself back on the straight and narrow!
I was asked over at Let's Scrap to be their featured Guest Designer for this week of giving Thanks, and here is my layout.
I have to get back into the kitchen and finish up the dishes my sister asked me to bring over for our feast(we alternate Thanksgiving and this year she's it)!
So remember to give tremendous thanks for all of your blessings and then stick that napkin into your collar and dig in!!!
Best regards and Happy Scrapping!

Happy Birthday Temple!!!
Where did the time go??? Temple is 7 years old today, 7!!! Our home will soon be Kiddie Land Express with Bounce House/Obstacle course and Clown Magician and face-painting! Pray for us!
Here is a picture I took of Temple earlier this week:
Is she not my big girl or what?
It's still quiet for just a little while longer and then the day will begin--I'm going to go and have my coffee in this lovely quiet before the storm!

A Woman of Substance - Artastic Challenge
I posted this layout yesterday as my layout for the Artastic Blog November Challenge!
This month's inspiration piece is "A Greek Woman" by Lawrence Alma-Tadema.
I felt the regal bearing and assurance of this woman, and I thought about Michelle Obama and knew I wanted to do this layout of her--a beautiful, self-confident and extremely intelligent woman!
Some detail:
I enjoyed doing this layout and what a great inspiration piece! When you have a moment, go over and check out Shazza at Artastic!

Practical Scrappers - Acrylic Paint Challenge
It's Monday, which means it's time for a new challenge over at Practical Scrappers! Here is my layout for the challenge.
I decided, as this was my first time working with acrylic paint (and after a few attempts!!!) that it was best for me to keep it simple. So I ended up creating a custom background for my layout. I mixed a couple of pastel colors together, dipped my paint brush into the paint and then hit my paint brush against a pencil to create the splatters on my cardstock. I also added some paint dabs to my cardboard mat.
This is one of my favorite pictures of my family taken back in 1995. Can you tell which one is me???
Don't forget to stop by Practical Scrappers and join in on the fun!!!

Practical Scrappers - This Week's Challenge
This week's challenge at Practical Scrappers is to use white or color-core cardstock on your layout. Here is my layout!
Temple had a blast at Jungle Quest where she was invited to a friend's birthday party. She amazed me by doing the zip line (the medium height one at first and then she advanced to the very high one)! She kept eyeing the rock wall where the climb was again, pretty high. I didn't think she would try it, but then there was a moment when I lost sight of her as I was chatting away with another Mom. I scanned the room for her and lo and behold, there she was on the line to climb the rock wall!!! Way to go Temple--she climbed that wall to the top, rang the bell and then scaled back down!!!
I know it's a little hard to see, but I did some embossing and sanding on my cardstock before punching out the shapes. I also used some Glimmer Mist to give the cardstock some color and sheen. You can see that I tore color-core cardstock where I wrote my journaling.
The two green hearts that you see were die-cut with my Cricut and then I coated them with Inksentials Glossy Accents.
Make sure you stop by Practical Scrappers to join in on the fun challenges!

By the Light of the Moon - Last Tri-Challenge Entry
Here is my last entry for the Tri-Challenge! This layout was for the Stuck on U Sketches part of the tri-challenge! Charles called us outside the other night to check out this wonderful moon rise! What a beauty it was!
Some detail:
I did some embossing with my Sizzix Big Kick and I used brads to hold down my ribbon.
I used PSE 7 to write part of my title on the picture.
I thought this really cute rubon from Pink Paislee would add the other-worldly touch I was looking for, and there's never a wrong time to add some bling!
Don't forget to join us over at Practical Scrappers for next week's challenge.
Best regards and Happy Scrapping!

Practical Scrappers' Tri-Challenge
Here's the first of my 3 layouts for Practical Scrappers' tri-challenge they are holding in conjunction with Frosted Designs and Stuck on U Sketches this week. The challenge on Practical Scrappers is to use a minimum of 3 ribbons on your project. There is the option to combine all 3 challenges into one layout or do a layout for each challenge which is what I opted to do. The dealine to post to all 3 sites is November 6th, so we all have time to get all projects done!
Though every now and again, I'll type up my journaling, my preference is to handwrite it. I kinda like the idea of my descendents reading my handwriting somewhere way into the distant future (thank-you!)
The "friends" title above and the flowers below are all cut from my Cricut cartridge, "Walk In My Garden."
Head on over to Practical Scrappers, Frosted Designs and Stuck On U Sketches and join in on the fun!

Nature at its Best
I take a gazillion pictures of nature, trees, flowers and I got to do one that I posted over at Let's Scrap for their Challenge #22. When we went camping out at Camp Jellystone in August, I got to take these pictures of a dragonfly--if you look closely, you'll see that one of the dragonfly's wings is torn. I keep saying that I need to start a scrap album just for my nature layouts. I will get to it one day!
Some Detail:
I used my Cricut "Walk in My Garden" cartridge to cut out the dragonfly above and then I used my beloved Stickles down the body!
Used my Cricut "Home Decor" cartridge to create the swirls!
I used Photoshop Elements 7 to position my 3 pictures as well as to create my cool title!
Best regards and Happy Scrapping!
