Last Day of Vacation
Well it is my last day of vacation and I must say that it was just what the doctor ordered! I got some rest (never as much as I needed)!!! What can I tell you, I have a husband and a daughter who tried their best to give me the time I needed for me but they, too, needed my time.
Speaking of needing my time, Temple's school had family breakfast on Friday morning that Charles and I attended--we parents were served breakfast and were entertained by our children reading from their "works of art" what family means to them (too cute!) We, as a family, were assigned to create a flag that pretty much represented what we do as a family (here's a picture of Temple's flag which she totally directed, though we were to make them as a family)!
We also did an impromptu trip to Disney World Friday evening, where we had dinner with Charles' friends, Bill and Laura. We met them at a really great Greek restaurant in Orlando called Taverna Opa, where they have belly dancers and the customers are literally encouraged to dance on the tables! Yeah, and there's my little one with Laura literally dancing on the table! (Check me out checking them out).
Saturday morning, we were off to Hollywood Studios for the day, and let me tell you that it was sooo blazing hot, I actually broke down and bought a Mickey Mouse tank top (I really had no choice)!!!
A few more pics of our day:
We got home last night at about 9:30pm, exhausted but content because we got to hang out together!

My Sweet Child!
Temple was sick with a cold last week. I took the picture below of her sleeping in our bed (where she always retreats when she's not feeling well). She returned to school on Friday and came home with her week's worth of homework. Well, we didn't get to it until this evening after we got back home from an early dinner out.
As usual, Temple and I went through our rounds, knocking heads big time--she looks for the shortcut and I make her erase and erase some more until her work passes my standards. We eventually get through the ordeal and I send her off to prepare for bed. She finds me in our Crafts Room and big girl that she is, she climbs onto my lap. She gives me a big hug and kiss and she says, "I love you as my Mommy."
That one line totally erased the 90 minutes of torture she and I had just undergone!

A Present for my Mother
I bought these glass photo coasters a little while ago and waited for just the right project to use them. The Family Reunion provided just that! I will be sending these coasters off to my mother tomorrow! I hope she likes them!

I am on Vacation!
It's been 14 months since I last had a full week off, and I'll tell you it's way past due. I understand now why vacation and time away from the office is important to one's mental and physical health. You're constantly on, always moving, thinking, strategizing family movements (to include weekend activities as well), housework. And that's just SOME of the personal life stuff.
Work is challenging too! It's always busy, the workload heavy, always thinking, always on, details and more details--well, you get the picture!!! Though my husband doesn't quite understand (he said, "but we haven't planned any place to go."), I've decided to spend my week at home with dear hubby off to work and lovely little girl off to school. Peace and quiet with minimal movement. Above all else, I just need to rest. I am tired.
Charles is already off to play golf (anyone surprised???), and Temple and I will first stop at the bank this morning to finally open her savings account (she's not too young to learn the value of money and saving). We are then off to the nail place to have our nails done. And you know what, I have not planned any further than that and I won't plan further than the next activity or 2 for the rest of this week.
I've decided this week that I've Got to be Me through and through. I am embracing that this week, via my thoughts, my yoga that I intend to reclaim, and my meditations.
Peace and God Bless

Temple Family Reunion - 2009
My Grandmother, Susie Mae Groover Temple was born on September 12, 1920. She was one of the most giving and loving persons I have had the pleasure to know. She helped raise all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with oodles and oodles of love and the best down-home, Southern cooking ever! My Gramps was called home on her birthday, September 12, 2008, and some of her descendants got together at my sister's home in Lake City, FL, on September 12, 2009 to remember Grandma and renew familial ties.
Please check out my slideshow of our gathering in the left sidebar.
God Bless.

Pure Joy
I went to post this LO on the Let's Scrap site and found I missed posting it by 1 day. The final day to post the current week's LO based on their sketch is Tuesday, not Wednesday as I previously thought. I posted it anyway!!! I used a picture of Temple in her cute little outfit that she wore the night of Charles' 50th birthday party. What a cutie and she is "Pure Joy!".
Some details: I sprayed these formally white flowers with Maya Gold Metallic mist.
The butterfly is dotted with Gold Stickles (I think I love Stickles!)
I love this transparency but I can't remember who manufactures it.
I used rubons from Pink Paisley behind the negative of the butterfly. "Pure" is also alphas by Pink Paisley. "Joy" is Thickers.
The negative dots silhouette is from my Peek-a-boo cardstock kit from Creating Keepsakes' Kit of the Month. That little gem is from Prima.

Temple's Art Gallery
I wanted to showcase some of Temple's artwork! As your normal 6yr old, Temple doodles, draws and crafts just about every day. She drew these "masterpieces" on Charles' cell phone on what she called his "draw pad." I like the names she came up with for her drawings: Colorful Erupting Volcano, Temple's Self-Portrait and Temple's Sunset. I just love the legs on her "self-portrait" considering that Temple has the longest legs I've seen on a 6 yr old! I also love her bright, happy colors that's so indicative of the boundary-less freedom that young children still enjoy at this age in their art.
And then there's the Mommy See-Temple Do (which I secretly love, especially because I know it won't last long)! This is Temple's layout -- she insisted on taking the picture herself, and she decided to add the acorn as an accent to her picture! She wanted to give it quote "something!" unquote. She is such a little girl and an old sole all at the same time.

I was just over at Candy Shoppe Designs, who have officially launched their site today and I tell you, it's looking "very sweet!!!" The first official Lollipop Girls Design Team also introduced themselves via the most stunning layouts. Special guest designer, Wendy Rago from Bad Girls Kit, will also be CSD's grand prize sponsor for their monthly grand prize drawing. Go and check out Wendy's very interesting site as well!
